Interview Tips:-

Ø Never speak “off the record.”

Ø Stick to the facts.

Ø Do not offer personal opinions.

Ø If you don’t know the answer to a question, it’s okay to say “I don’t know” but promise to get the answer before the reporter’s deadline.

Ø Speak from the perspective of the viewer/listener/reader.

Ø Tell the truth.

Ø Be a helpful resource.

Ø You don’t have to talk about things you don’t want to (or can’t) talk about.

Ø Each interview presents an opportunity to say something positive. Bridge to your messages at every opportunity.

Ø Be prepared for the interview/reporter. Remember that you may not be given exact questions in advance.

Avoid memorising answers, but become confident about what you will say so that you can leave a positive first impression. It's fine to take a little time to frame your response if you're not sure how to respond to the question.

 If you are not sure how to answer the question, ask for clarification. That will buy you some extra time to think about how to answer. Then be sure to include these four points in your answer - situation, task, action, results.
